Classes are offered at a rate of $40 per 45 minute class and $55 per 2.5 hour class. If you sign up for the full term, you'll be charged a reduced rate of $35 per 45 minute class and $50 per 2.5 hour class.

What if my child is absent from school or goes home early?
--Please email information@geniusgems.com and let us know in advance.

Can I schedule a make up class if I'm traveling?
--Yes, you can schedule up to one make-up class per session. The make up class must take place during the current session and canot be rolled over to the next semester. Make up classes are for classes only, they cannot be transferred to general admission or a credit.

Can I sign up for more than one class?
--Yes, you can sign up for more than one weekly class, or you can sign up for back to back classes. 

Do you pick up from schools other than Friends Seminary, PS 340, PS 11, Academy of St. Joseph, or PS 41?
--We are open to other school pick ups in close proximity to Genius Gems NYC, but please email us to coordinate with the school.

What if I have additional questions?
--Please email us at information@geniusgems.com and someone will reply within 48 hours of your inquiry.

Can I get a prorated rate if I join classes late?
--Yes! Email us at informtion@geniusgems.com to recieve a discounted rate on classes to account for the weeks that you've missed.

Do you offer trial classes?
--For NEW customers who have never taken a class or mini camp before at Genius Gems, you can email us at information@geniusgems.com and if there is space available, we can offer a PAID one time trial to see if your child likes the class. We need at least 48 hours notice to accommodate a trial. Please contact information@geniusgems.com to see if there is availability. Unfortunately we cannot hold spots for students that wish to try the class before enrolling.

HALF TERM:
Families can arrange up to ONE makeup per class session for a missed class depending on availability. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate more than one makeup class per session. Makeups must be scheduled before the end of the terms. No refunds or credits will be offered for missed classes. Holidays are already factored into the schedule.

FULL TERM:
Families can arrange up to TWO makeups per class session for a missed class depending on availability. Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate more than two makeup classes per session. Makeups must be scheduled before the end of the terms. No refunds or credits will be offered for missed classes. Holidays are already factored into the schedule.

Classes are fully refundable (less 10% per class registration) prior to November 1, 2024.

You may email us your refund request at information@geniusgems.com and our response (within 24 hours) will be confirmation of receipt of your email. If you do not hear from us then we have not received your request.

If you notify us via email that you wish to cancel your registration between November 2 and December 1, 2024, 50% of the tuition will be refunded. After December 1, 2024, no refunds will be issued.

Cancellations during the term: if and only if we have a waiting list for that class, and can fill your spot, we will refund you a pro rated amount of the class less a $25 processing fee per registration.

Switching sections: If and only if we have availability in another class, you may make one switch per semester to another class for no additional cost. Genius Gems reserves the right to charge a $10 administrative fee per additional change request for any additional requested schedule changes.

Except as described in "Cancellations during the term" above, refunds/credits will not be issued in the following situations:
--A child is removed from the class due to behavioral issues.
--A child decides to drop out of the program early/before the end of classes.
--Your child is sick and either stayed home from, or was sent home from class due to fever or other ailments.
--A family decides they no longer wish to enroll in the class.
--A family decides they have a conflict with another program and opt not to take the Genius Gems class.
--Refunds/credits will not be issued for missed classes, or for withdrawing from the class.

Unfortunately, we cannot roll over credits to the following semester.

Mad Science (K-1):
Students will:
-Engage in the wonders of science through exciting and hands-on activities
-Explore scientific and chemical concepts such as the states of matter, PH scales and indicators, chemical and physical reactions, density, protein bonds, and the creation of polymers
-Engage in critical thinking by formulating hypothesis about experiment outcomes based on their knowledge
-Foster curiosity, analytical thinking, and a willingness to experiment!

Mad Science (1-3rd)

Students will:
-Dive deeper into the world of science with more advanced and exciting experiments
-Learn about the fascinating concepts such as the visible light spectrum, temperature based reactions, changes in phases of matter, and more!
-Conduct a series of thrilling experiments that demonstrate advanced scientific principles, fostering critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world around them

Intro to Engineering (K-1st)
Students will:
-Be introduced to the fundamentals of engineering through interactive, project-based learning experiences
-Explore core engineering concepts by designing, building, and testing various structures and mechanisms
-Engage in elementary mechanics, simple circuitry, and analytical problem-solving, setting the foundation for future technical exploration

Engineering and Tech (2nd-4th)
Students will:
-Delve into engineering principles by designing and constructing custom projects and 3D prototypes
-Investigate key scientific principles such as aerodynamics, magnetism, and gravitational forces, and how they influence engineering designs
-Gain hands-on experience with 3D printing technology and basic circuitry to create functional prototypesDevelop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills while fostering an engineering mindset to transform ideas into tangible products

Tech Creator Lab (3rd-6th)
Students will:
-Engage with advanced technology through immersive projects that incorporate engineering, coding, and design challenges
-Utilize 3D printing and computer-aided design (CAD) software to bring innovative concepts to life
-Participate in competition-based challenges using VEX Robotics, combining programming, mechanics, and team collaboration to solve complex problems
-Build multi-disciplinary projects that integrate coding, mechanical systems, and electronics, fostering creativity, technical skills, and a passion for engineering innovation

Design Bar Lab with 3D Printing (1st-4th)

Discover the exciting world of design and creation in our Design Bar and 3D Printing class, tailored for students in 1st through 4th grade. In this hands-on class, young innovators will explore the magic of photochromic slime, which changes colors when exposed to different light conditions, and learn to craft their own unique laser-cut glitter tiles and cloud clay creations. Students will also dive into the basics of 3D printing, creating their own custom jewelry pieces to take home. This class is designed to spark creativity and introduce foundational STEM concepts in a fun and engaging environment, providing students with the tools and inspiration to bring their imaginative ideas to life. 

Level 1 Coding (K-1

)Students will:
-Expand their understanding of coding principles through dynamic, hands-on coding challenge
-Use Scratch Jr. to build and program animations and games with block-based coding
--Solve complex tasks using color-driven programming system
--Tackle interactive coding challenges by programming our robots to navigate a maze in timed trials
-Learn essential coding concepts like loops, sequences, and commands while exploring how these impact real-world applications

Level 2 Coding (2nd-4th grade)
Students will:
-Explore advanced robotics and game design, delving deeper into complex coding concepts
-Develop an understanding of variables, events, and conditional logic for more sophisticated problem solving
-Use Scratch to design and program interactive games and advanced animations
-Take on advanced challenges,pushing the boundaries of robotics and code
Experiment with hardware programming and basic electronics through the use of microcomputers

Level 3 Coding (4th-6th grade)

Our Level 3 coding class for students in 4th through 6th grade takes their coding skills to new heights with an immersive blend of game design, beginner text-based coding in Python, and hands-on robotics. Students will create their own interactive games, mastering advanced concepts in logic and algorithm design. They'll further t their journey into text-based coding with Python, learning to write and understand code that will further develop their understanding of fundamental coding concepts as well as introduce them to the use of more sophisticated data structures. They will use Python to code robots and microcomputers, draw exciting and aesthetically pleasing computer graphics, and explore classic algorithms like maze navigation, list sorting and/or searches. 

Pokémon ™️ Tournament Class NYC (1st to 5th grade):

Our Pokémon Tournament class is an exciting opportunity for young trainers to dive into the world of Pokémon card battles! In this engaging class, students will learn the basic rules of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, including how to play and strategize effectively. They'll discover how to build their own powerful decks, selecting the best combination of Pokémon, trainers, and energy cards. With their decks ready, students will have the chance to battle their classmates in friendly, competitive matches, honing their skills and enjoying the thrill of Pokémon competition. This class fosters strategic thinking, sportsmanship, and a deep appreciation for the Pokémon universe. Genius Gems is now an official Pokémon reseller, and each class we will do a roll off for a chance to win a pack of Pokémon cards! This course is open to new and returning students.
